50-200 SHU. One of the most highly prized peppers for Japanese cooking and stir-fries. This pepper is also wonderful pickled and fresh. It is hot, sweet, and crisp. This variety is a prolific producer. If you like the pepperoncini pepper, this is very comparable in size and shape, but totally different in flavor.
These seem like good quality seeds. I only planted one seed in an indoor greenhouse and it germinated after nine days. The seedling looks nice and healthy. I plan on growing more outdoors in the spring.
I had good production from this pepper and I have plenty of seed for next year.
I’ve been growing four of these pepper plants, two in Aerogardens and two in diy hydroponic setups (aquarium pump and 20w led lights). All in my living room. Let me tell ya, soooo many peppers. These are excellent.
These shishito peppers are great! 100% germination, and very prolific in my zone 8A garden. Not very spicy, and great for eating raw or blistered.
The first year I grew these Shishito Peppers, I was absolutely amazed at the number of peppers each plant produced. I've grown them every year since then. Favorite way to prepare them is sauteed whole in a little olive oil with salt and pepper, until they're blistered and browned. Hold them by the stem and pop them in your mouth. Once in a while you'll get one that's a bit hotter and spicier than the others. Haha, delicious fun!
