Indeterminate - Originating from West Virginia, these tomatoes grow to about 7 inches long and are perfect for sauces, salsas, and canning due to their meaty texture and minimal seeds.
I liked the big long paste tomatoes because they are easy to work with when making sauce. It's easy to take the seeds out before processing. Good flavor when cooked, large, and with decent production. Didn't hold up to blight any better than my other heirlooms, but going to grow again.
This was my first year growing this varity. I only had one Federle plant in my greenhouse, along with 9 other varieties of tomatoes, and this one has produced an abundance of huge tomatoes on a plant that's 8 feet tall. I'm also still picking tomatoes off it in early November (zone 9)! I will most certainly be planting more again next year.
Most productive paste tomatoes I have ever grown, and tastes great.
I’ve grown this one for 3 years now and it out performs all the others. It’s extremely hardy (zone 6b) and hangs in there even with late spring cold snaps. People are blown away by how meaty it is. And the flavor is just right…not too acidic and not too sweet. We really love this one!
I decided to grow this based of Luke’s endorsement and lack of typically growing paste style tomatoes. Needless to say I’m very glad I did. Not only are these’s tomatoes productive and vigorous, they are extremely tasty. One of my favorites this year. Will absolutely be growing this variety for the foreseeable future. Thanks again Luke!
