Semi-Determinate - The San Marzano tomato is the undisputed king of paste tomatoes. Each plant produces insane amounts of medium 3-5 ounce tomatoes. Expect high production up to the first frost. The flavor is acidic; making it great for canning, tomato paste, pizza sauce, pasta sauce, and even fresh eating in salads! Gourmet and home chefs seek out the San Marzano for its amazing flavor and perfect texture.

I bought these seeds this spring and was a little sad the plant didn't immediately take off this summer (I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). But the two plants I planted in my raised bed had fruits that are easily 5-6' long and just beautiful! They have just started ripening and I have harvested only about a dozen or so thus far (end of September). I am VERY happy with this San Marzano tomato. I plan to roast and can the meat and use the skins for a tomato paste to can. VERY prolific on the plants I put in my garden.

Wasn't impressed

The seeds seemed fine, germination was good but the fruit I harvested were small (2 inches give or take) and tasteless. I get that it's a sauce tomato but it didn't make a good sauce at all. Quality? I don't know

San Marzano tomato

Love these tomatoes, especially for making sauces. I purchased several seed from MI Gardener and all popped open within a few days and I transplanted them into small containers and they will be in the garden soon. Best choice for seed purchasing and growing information.

Great Germination Results!

I purchased my first package of San Marzano tomatoes as I want to can tomato sauce. I planted extra seeds to ensure that I had enough plants. All twelve seeds germinated which is just a bit too many plants for me, so I am giving a few to my mom and daughter. The plants themselves look wonderful and healthy. I am excited to see my results at harvest time. I will write another review at that time.
