The Cherokee Trail of Tears pole bean is a historic heirloom variety, cherished for its rich cultural significance and robust flavor. This versatile bean plant has green pods that turn purple when dried with black seeds inside. Maturing in about 85 days, these pole beans are ideal for both fresh eating and drying for storage. They are named in honor of the Cherokee people, who carried them on the Trail of Tears. The plants are hardy and easy to grow, thriving in well-drained soil and full sun.

The packaging was very nice

The packaging was very nice. It was dry when I received it, and I look forward to planting them in the spring.

SO MANY BEANSTALKS!

I planted a row of these and nearly every last bean sprouted up into a beautiful plant, practically overnight! In less than a week I had close to twenty plants that were already three or four inches tall. Incredible. Can't wait for them to fully mature and reap the harvest. Thank you again, MIGardener!

Fantastic, prolific, hardy

I had great success with these in my 2024 season. I grew 6 plants, and they were vigorous! I ate the first flush of beans fresh, and let the rest dry on the vines. I got 3lbs of dried beans! These will be a part of my garden every year. Fantastic bean.

Very productive

This bean variety did best in my garden last year. I will absolutely be growing them again this year.
