The Contender bush bean is a popular and productive heirloom variety known for its early maturity and resilience in various climates. These bush beans produce high yields of 6-8 inch, stringless, tender pods that are perfect for fresh eating, canning, and freezing. Contender bush beans are resistant to common bean diseases, making them a reliable choice for home gardeners. A great variety to choose for both early season cool temperatures and can withstand the heat in the summer.
I have grown these before with MI Gardner seeds and they did great. Giving it a go again this year. Look forward to eating them fresh and canned again this year.
It’s winter here so I haven’t been able to plant them, of course, but I did check the seeds and they all look very healthy and fresh
I ordered both contender beans and jade beans. I planted all 25 seeds from each packet. One of the packets has 13 plants and the other has 9. I grow in nursery pots (10 gallon) and use potting mix from the Arizona Worm Farm. I may have planted the seeds too shallow.
Received seeds in a timely manner
Your Contender Bean seed packets were the only Contender variety that I could find this season. Not sure why they are now so scarce,, and so was glad to see you carried them. Thank you!
I used revive Rex last year with excellent outcomes. I wanted you to make sure I have it on had for this gardening season.
Delicious and prolific.I'll plant this on repeat!
Grew these for the past three years and I will keep growing them for many more. I highly recommend them. Great germination rate. Every onion grew to the size of baseballs and others a bit bigger and they store very well.Best long day onion I have ever grow.
I am very happy with my heirloom seeds. I cannot wait to germinate them.
Started my seeds on 12/31/25. I’ve had almost 100% germination and the onion seedlings are a couple of inches tall at this point (1/9/26). Looking forward to a great harvest!
