Asclepias Incarnata. Swamp milkweed is vital to the survival of the monarch butterfly. This showy, 2-4 ft perennial grow clumps of small mauve flowers filled with butterfly feeding nectar. This variety grows easily from seed and isn't invasive like some other varieties.
These germinated great and were all off to a good start, but they ended up getting potted up into too heavy of dirt and became stressed and got killed off by spider mites shortly after. Will be trying to grow again but will be taking better care of them while young.
Asclepias (Milkweeds) are very important to me, and especially this species! I often get my milkweed seeds from different companies, for a few reasons, but I noticed that my Swamp Milkweed seeds from a different well-known company were significantly smaller, and overall pretty scraggly-looking, compare those to these?- complete 180! These are massive, healthy looking seeds!
These germinated in no time and are thriving very well
I can’t wait for these lil guys to become food for the monarchs!! (Or, any other pollinators that want to join the party!)
Haven’t planted yet but will here soon.

These were cut on April 22nd and planted April 23, 2025. They came up on May 4th. I'm in central SD, zone 4b. Next year, I'll get more!
Hard to leave a review just planted them.. but over all I was pleased when they arrived ❤️
I wasn't sure it would survive when I planted it, but it is growing. Very happy with my purchase
I immediately set this plant outside to begin hardening off. After about 2 weeks, I planted it in it's dedicated grow bag until I get a more permanent planter, and I must say it is living life. It has grown so much since I received it. I believe I'm going to remove the blossoms this year to continue promoting healthy growth.
Love this. I collect stickers on my garden notebook for fun and inspiration and this spoke to me.
