Calypso bush bean, also known as Orca or Yin Yang bean, is an eye-catching heirloom variety prized for its striking black and white pattern resembling an orca whale. This compact, bushy plant matures in about 70-90 days, producing abundant pods filled with small, round beans. Known for their creamy texture and mild, nutty flavor, Calypso beans are excellent for soups, stews, and salads.
The kids get very excited picking the dry "Orca beans" and I enjoy cooking them. They are relatively large and keep their fun coloring when cooked. Taste great in soup. Good yields grown in zone 6b.
Have grown these several times and they are always successful, dry well and taste great. Sometimes they look like yin and yang, sometimes like orca whales (that's the kid and grandma in me)
Such a unique bean!
Love these Calypso beans. Did very well, even when my flock of geese and chickens decimated the flowers multiple times. The snap beans were tasty….and the ugly, brown, shriveled husk was magical to crack open and reveal the most beautiful beans. We mixed our dried seed pods together and opened them at once. It was a fun surprise to see what color bean was going to be inside. Fun for the kids and adults alike. Thanks for another great seed that our family will keep in our garden for generations!
Wicked awesome deal!!

I grew only a few seeds, but they came up fine, and I was able to get some delicious, sweet melon! I sprayed it once with a copper fungicide, and I should have done it a second time, but I still go melons. (I have a struggle with fungal problems here). Easy to grow, easy to eat!
This stuff feed my garden all summer. Highly recommend
This was one of my first tomatoes from MIgardener seed and I loved it so much. Very tasty green tomato, and even though it was only in a smallish container, it was one of my best producers! Nice clusters (not quite so big and dense as the photo, for me at least...) and great flavor for eating fresh in the garden. I'm not the best with tomatoes, I don't treat them as well as I should, and I grow in Seattle (8b?) which is finicky weather every year, so I was surprised these did so well! Will definitely grow again. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures saved on the vine, but the little green one in the attached photo is one of them!
Love sales. Time to stock up
Pollinators love this flower. Especially honey bees.
They grew in spring then reseeded themselves for fall.
