Egyptian walking onions, otherwise known as tree onions, are a unique and hard-to-find variety of allium. They taste similar to an onion, however are treated more like garlic. Each "bulblet" can form a plant, which forms a flower stalk, and rather than flowering, forms more bulblets! These bulbs get heavy and lay on the soil to set down roots. That is how it gets the name "walking onion".

Egyptian Walking Onion Sets

1 Jumbo Bulblets for $2.75
2 Large Bulblets for $2.75

5 Medium Bulblets for $2.75
10 Small Bulblets for $2.75

Each bulblet, regardless of size, will yield one plant! Bulblets typically range in size from 1/4 - 3/4 inches, depending on count selected.

The most significant advantage of planting a large Egyptian onion bulblet compared to a small one is that the larger bulblet typically has more stored energy, allowing it to establish itself more quickly and produce a stronger, more vigorous plant. Larger bulblets are more likely to sprout faster, develop more robust roots, and produce larger or more numerous topsets (future bulblets) sooner. This can result in a quicker harvest and a more productive onion plant overall.

In contrast, smaller bulblets may take longer to establish and may not be as productive in their first season, though they can still grow into healthy plants over time.

Egyptian Onion Sets

The Egyptian onion sets I purchased were in great shape, not dried out nor damaged. I just planted them and can’t wait to see them grow.

Awesome Onions

I got these bulbs in the ground back in September, and it was my first time planting them. Before the first frost, more than half already had green sprouts. Looking forward to future harvests!

Thank you!
