Ordered the seeds, arrived in a timely manner as expected. Planted and almost all sprouted without issue. Clear 5 stars for MI Gardener!

Now the bad part, completely unrelated to the seeds.

Transplanted 20 heirloom varieties I had grown from seed into the garden with the addition of locally sourced compost advertised as high quality, regularly tested and certified. After two weeks in the soil, all the tomato and pepper plants showed stunted growth, leaves curling upwards, plants stopped growing — a clear sign of herbicide contamination in the compost. I never had this problem before.

So before you order another TruGreen spray of your lawn because you think dandelions are weeds, know that those herbicides leach into soil and groundwater, end up in compost via grass clippings, and destroy other people's food gardens. No one tests for it. And wonder why cancer rates keep climbing.

What an unhealthy country this is.
