1 Year Root

The hardiest and finest quality of the white grapes. Himrod’s flavor is excellent with sweet, juicy fruit that dries well for sweet raisins. First to ripen – a month ahead of Concord. Disease resistant. The vine is vigorous, bearing large loose clusters that ripen early and keep well. A delicious grape, one of the finest of the seedless varieties. The clusters are large but rather loose; berries are medium size, oval, golden amber and sweet.

Grapes are not particular about soil preference and do especially well in clays and loams that have been improved with organic matter.

The vines are allowed to run as they will the first year and the posting or staking is done the second or third year when you will prune heavily, leaving only 2 or 3 buds on the strongest stem. As it grows you’ll keep only the most vigorous sprout to form the main stem. Shallow cultivation and mulching are beneficial.

Spacing: 8-10'
Best in Zones- 5-8
Fruit Color: White
Harvest Time: Late August

Rough start but a good start

I received the plant broke at the top just below a node. Rough delivery looks like. I cut it off and planted it right away in some soil I made. It's taking the transplant well and starting to vine out nicely. I'll plant it out in the garden when it gets a bit bigger. Better the chances my dogs won't trample it to death.

Took a little time.

Currently in a tree pot until permanent home is established. Arrived looking very dried out with dead leaf attached. Was not hopeful. After a couple weeks it has surprised me, happily! Leafing out and doing great! NMSU says this one is perfect for my location! Zone 7b, desert, alkaline soil.
