Introduced in 1926, this variety has been a favorite in the home garden for generations. This heirloom spinach handles the coldest weather and is best planted in early spring. Large leaves and a tender texture make it an excellent addition to a spring salad mix or added to a green smoothie. Delicious raw, steamed, or cooked, this spinach is delicious, not stringy, and not bitter at all!
Germinated well
We had a stretch of multiple weeks of unusual cold in zone 6, including several days of single digit days, and below zero nights. I had my garden beds covered in frost cloth/hoops, and just uncovered them expecting everything to be dead. Shockingly, not only did this spinach survive--it kept growing during the extreme cold!!! I was able to harvest enough for a salad for dinner for three of us. I had another variety planted that looks alive, but lost a lot of leaves to the cold and definitely didn't grow during the cold. Needless to say, this will be my go-to for wintertime gardening.
Delicious early spring vegetable!
The taste and texture of this spinach is great! We plant it in the fall and overwinter, ate spinach all winter long! We had sub zero temps for 10 days in January, covered it with straw and when we took off the straw, harvested spinach until it bolted in May. I’ll always plant Giant Nobel.
This is my new favorite variety of spinach. Huge leaves yet still tender. Produced well during the cool temps but bolted when temps got into the 80s, as expected.

We have nice fertile soil in our greenhouse and able to control those pesty little flea beetles that can decimate eggplants foliage. I've been keeping them under control with DE and my eggplants are massive in size, about 3-4 feet tall with 1 foot lower leaves.
The eggplants fruit are developing nicely, nearly doubling in size daily. There are plenty of blossoms too. We're expecting that we won't need to grow more for a few years, we're planning on freeze drying most if them.
I purchased several packs of seeds from MiGardener during the semi annual sale, and they did not disappoint! Nearly 100 percent germination rate on all seeds I've planted. The only thing I haven't been able to germinate is lemon grass, which I'm learning may 1 take a very long time to germinate in general and 2 need bottom heat to help them sprout. Even without being on sale 2 bucks a seed pack for the amount they give (very generous compared to other companies, I might add) is a crazy good deal. If you have been on the fence, I encourage you to give MiGardener seeds a try! Thank you Luke and team, and Happy Gardening to all!
I'm not a seasoned gardener, so I don't necessarily know what's normal or not, but out of all the seeds I planted (got about a dozen different herbs and greens from MIgardener), the fenugreek was the quickest to sprout, had the highest germination rate, and the largest sprouting leaves. I'm pretty excited to watch them grow into beautiful plants.
Gardening for over 40 years. The Trifecta very impressed has all the elements I want in a fertilizer. Next year I will buy the largest amount.
Second squash to produce for me. Picked young and the skin is very thin/easily bruises. Roasted first batch and they were a delicious mild flavor! Very soft but the roasting gave a nice crust on them. 2nd batch mixed in a stir fry and it overcooked very easily and was mushy. I like how prolific this plant is and the mild taste. Just need to make sure not to overcook. Well definitely grow again.
