Matricaria recutita. The blooms on this petite variety resemble daisies with their bright white petals coming off their vibrant yellow discs. The sweet flavor resembles apples and has a calming ability. This medicinal herb has been a staple for centuries. Grows up to 20" tall and can produce hundreds of flower heads if properly maintained. Ideal for making a homemade calming tea, drying for decorations, or making perfume.
These grew well for me and spread even more for me this year.
I plan to use this to make tea and bouquets.
I winter sowed these seeds and added to my herb garden. They were very prolific and spread like crazy.
My chamomile seeds all germinated and growing
I love this German Chamomile, the flowers are so much bigger than the Polish Chamomile I used to grow before I discovered this German variety. They are beautiful and look like happy little daisies. I multi sow it by broadcasting the seed over a large pot of soil. They will eventually reseed themselves after they grow. They get very tall, about 20" or more on thin stems. Tiny bees and wasps like them. I use a peony support to surround them and help give them more stability, it also makes it easier to harvest the flowers, I do that by hand one by one. The plants will eventually fall over with their own weight if not supported, especially in a rain storm. I love the warm sweet scent they have, and look forward to drinking as a tea when winter comes again.
