This cayenne out produced my other cayenne colors, and after being on the plant for a long time they eventually ripen from purple to red and taste even better.

Great addition to the garden

I haven't found a lot of information about this variety online. The plants are very prolific. I think purple cayenne is kind of a misnomer. They go from green, to purple, then to red. The peppers actually take a LONG time to ripen in to a deep red. If you pick them before they start to blush/ripen to red, they will not ripen to red but stay purple. I haven't tasted either purple) or the red ripened peppers yet--I look forward to the taste test. I grow cayenne for both cooking and for making into spice powder (or to use as medicine). I'm curious the heat level and flavor in comparison to other cayenne varieties.

I love these. I love the heat and the flavor. I already make some cayenne pepper with it and plan to make pickled peppers. Great choice
