Matricaria recutita. The blooms on this petite variety resemble daisies with their bright white petals coming off their vibrant yellow discs. The sweet flavor resembles apples and has a calming ability. This medicinal herb has been a staple for centuries. Grows up to 20" tall and can produce hundreds of flower heads if properly maintained. Ideal for making a homemade calming tea, drying for decorations, or making perfume.
Started the seeds and have great germination. Looking forward to beautiful flowers in a couple months.
I winter sowed some of these seeds in a milk jug. I checked on them on 2/10/26 and saw that they were sprouting. Im in the southern end of the Pacific North West (zone 8A). I am currently under a winter storm warning, with a potential to produce 8"-12" of snow. So, we will see what happens.
Great germination
I had great success with these seeds. The seeds germinated in the time stated on the package. The plants were very hardy. The flowers were so cute! I cut them and used them for tea which was very flavorful. I planted a 3 foot row last summer. I will plant an 8 foot row this year so I can dry some for tea.
I have not planted Chamomile yet but plan to plant it come this Spring.
I gave one to my partner last summer... he said, "WHY DOES THIS TASTE LIKE CHAMPAGNE??"
This variety will be in my garden until I can no longer garden!
I just planted them and they look beautiful so far
Excellent Germination!
One of my favorite things to grow is spinach, I grow mostly in containers so I like to try and get as much as possible out of my small garden. This variety definitely does that. I get massive leaves and fill up a gallon sized ziplock bag relatively quickly every week when the harvest begins.
Germination went very well, popped up within a few days. Growing well!
