AnnualIndeterminate. Japanese Black Trifle is a unique heirloom tomato known for its rich, smoky-sweet flavor and pear-shaped, mahogany-colored fruits. This indeterminate variety produces medium-sized tomatoes with dense, meaty flesh and few seeds, making them perfect for slicing, roasting, or fresh eating. The plants are highly productive and offer good disease resistance.
I just bought this and would love to give it a review after I have had a chance to grow it.

I wanted new trifle tomato seeds and I knew I could count on you guys!
They are a late producer for my climate in the PNW. The plant was healthy, the fruit was pretty but when compared to harvest size and taste they didn't quite make the cut. I grow 8 varieties of sauce/cooking tomatoes every year and then make a lovely spaghetti sauce with each one to taste test them. 2025 will be my 10th year of conducting these home trials for sauce tomatoes.
The seeds did perfect. They produced beautiful fruit. But I did not care for the tomatoes. The bottom half became very mushy while the top was still very green.
We planted five seeds in five die pattern in 12 x 2.5" starter pots because we suspected finicky germination rate, but much to our surprise 53 of the 60 seeds came up! We gave four seedlings to family and pricked the remaining 49 out and everyone is doing very well in its own pot. Grade A seeds in our opinion! We love MIGardener!
Germanated quickly on a heat mat. Off the mat and growing ready to transplant early/mid april. Excited for leeks this autumn
Last year I bought seeds from my local store and I didnt get anything to germinate. This year I purchased all my seeds from MIGardener and I've had to give seedlings away cause nearly all the seeds sprouted!!!

My only complaint is that I was not prepared for how well and fast all of the seeds would grow soI had to pot up earlier than expected! I am very happy with all of the seeds I have purchased from here!
