Brassica oleracea var. sabellica. An heirloom variety with 3″ wide blue-green leaves. The leaves reach up to 18″ long and are healthy and delicious. The plant is very cold tolerant and a prolific producer. Leaves become more tender and flavorful after a hard frost. Tastes great when steamed or stir-fried, versatile enough for juicing. Replace these kale leaves with traditional lettuce wraps for a crunchier wrap, make sure to massage the leaves in lemon juice before serving for the best nutrients and flavor! Excellent Source Of Vitamins C and A, Phytonutrients, Iron, and Calcium.
Seeds have good germination. Plant held up through winter (zone 7a) and are continuing to grow well in March.
This variety of kale is very cold hardy.
But I’ve had great success even in the heat of summer growing it.
I’ve learned to keep harvesting a few times a week and that helps encourage more plant growth.
Fantastic for Canning your own greens. The texture doesn’t break down as easily and isn’t pure mush when canned like other varieties.
Such a beautiful kale! I just love how this kale looks and tastes! Grows well too!!
I love brassicas, but I hate kale!
Having said that I seed a 4x4 bed with kale and feed my chickens through a 5 month growing season using cut and come again. The return on investment for a $2 seed pack is unreal.

Thank you for fulfilling our order for red raspberry plants. I ordered 20 plants, 7 for my daughter in law’s birthday present and 13 for our new red raspberry bed. Twelve of the 13 we planted have thrown out shoots and leaves. We are patiently waiting on the 13th. Red raspberries are one of our favorite fruits and are used to make our favorite jam. We look forward to picking our own harvest.
I have had great success with all my purchases from MIGardner. The potatoes arrived timely and had plenty of eyes. I only lost one cutting to rot while skinning and the rest successfully sprouted. Very happy, the rest is up to me!
We purchased four kits and made the 3x8 variety. The process was swift and easy to perform. It can be done by one person. Our beds are filled with soil and ready for the 2025 planting season!
This spinach is awesome. I winter sowed it in Feb 2025 in some gallon jugs and deep lettuce containers. It came up great. Transplanted to a raised bed in April Although the leaves are huge, they are super tasty. So far, I am loving your seeds. Would buy again!!!
These were cut on April 22nd and planted April 23, 2025. They came up on May 4th. I'm in central SD, zone 4b. Next year, I'll get more!
