Brassica napus var. pabularia. This beautiful variety is sage green with purple-veined leaves. Softer than most kale, the leaves reach up to 15″ long and are slightly fuzzy. Add to smoothies and juices as a nutrient-dense green, or add to stir-fries for a robust flavor. Very frost tolerant and the leaves become more tender and appetizing after a hard frost. This tastes delectable with a honey mustard dressing! Excellent source of vitamins C and A.
Seeds have good germination. Plant held up through winter (zone 7a) and are continuing to grow well in March.
Always pleased with my MI gardener seeds. Good germination with varieties that pump out the groceries. The red kale is my most productive kale.
If you blanch and then dry Red Russian Kale, crush it, you can fit a large amount in a quart jar for storage. Then whenever you make a soup, stew, or casserole you use it as a seasoning to add another layer of flavor to you meals. I always keep it on hand.
I actually planted the seeds about two weeks ago and I’m seeing some seedlings so I have to wait to see what’s going to happen, but it looks like the seeds are germinating so I’m happy.
Ordered seeds in August for a Fall Garden and so far the Kale and Spinach have almost 100% germination rates when started indoors in the cool basement temperatures.

This spinach is awesome. I winter sowed it in Feb 2025 in some gallon jugs and deep lettuce containers. It came up great. Transplanted to a raised bed in April Although the leaves are huge, they are super tasty. So far, I am loving your seeds. Would buy again!!!
These were cut on April 22nd and planted April 23, 2025. They came up on May 4th. I'm in central SD, zone 4b. Next year, I'll get more!
Hard to leave a review just planted them.. but over all I was pleased when they arrived ❤️
I wasn't sure it would survive when I planted it, but it is growing. Very happy with my purchase
I immediately set this plant outside to begin hardening off. After about 2 weeks, I planted it in it's dedicated grow bag until I get a more permanent planter, and I must say it is living life. It has grown so much since I received it. I believe I'm going to remove the blossoms this year to continue promoting healthy growth.
