The Purple Podded Pole Bean is an heirloom variety celebrated for its striking deep purple pods and robust growth habit. These vigorous climbers reach up to 8 feet tall, producing abundant, slender pods that are 5-7 inches long. The beans inside are green and tender, offering a delicious, slightly sweet flavor. They are stringless. When cooked, the pods turn green, adding visual interest to any dish. This variety thrives in well-drained soil with full sun exposure, maturing in about 65-75 days. Highly productive and resistant to common bean diseases, Purple Podded Pole Beans are ideal for fresh eating, canning, and freezing, making them a favorite among gardeners.
Not only is this a beautiful bean to grow, but it is also a large bean that is very tender. The purple color helps it stand out when you harvest the beans, and it's harder for it to hide in the leaves. Sadly, the color changes to green if you boil it, but it doesn't take on a woody texture if it goes a couple of days too long before it's picked. I grew this bean in an Earthbox (container) with a trellis, and it produced a lot of beans in a small space. This is one of my favorite beans, and I will keep growing it in my Michigan garden.
Picked our first harvest of “purple beans” this morning and wow! They are huge and very pretty purple. I included a picture with a normal green bean and the gold rush wax bean for comparison. My 4 year old was proudly showing off her “purple beans” to everyone. I think I had 100% germination for these too.
I have loved growing purple pole beans since I was a kid. They are very easy to grow even as a kid. They are easy to find and harvest. Plus tasty. This seed order did not disappoint. Very happy gardener.
Growing beautifully!
We just planted the seed and it's up so we can't do an honest review. We are a zone 3 area so we'll have to wait and see. Shipping was fast

Planting strawberries for the first time and all of the plants are doing great except for one that is struggling to grow. Instructions that arrived with the plants was extremely helpful! Very happy with my purchase and looking forward to next year's harvest.
Very happy with my purchase. I planted 40 seeds and they all germinated! Felt like I ran the lottery. Haven’t had a harvest yet but they are growing well. Already knee high. Very happy with my purchase
This is my second year ordering the bare root strawberry plants, and I will say these are the healthiest plant starts!! I will order again
I loved my Chandler Blueberries. I have had it for a year now. As a beginner blueberry grower, I loved how easily it is to maintain the plant in its healthy state. I live in Zone 7. It lived through its first winter snow, and sprouted back up in Spring, just shows how cold-hardy it can be. It is now slowly blooming. Hopefully in the next few years it will produce me some juicy blueberries!
Not so great raw, but awesome sautéed and in soups! Grows great in warm climate. It takes a while to get started, but once it takes off, it doesn't stop! Very easy for new gardeners ❣️
