Spanish Roja hardneck garlic is a renowned heirloom variety known for its robust, rich flavor and excellent culinary qualities. This hardneck type produces easy-to-peel cloves encased in beautiful reddish-purple skins. Spanish Roja is a compact variety that thrives in colder climates and is highly valued for its reliable cold-hardiness. The plants produce a tall, sturdy scape that curls gracefully before forming a bulbous seed head, adding ornamental value to the garden. Ideal for roasting, sautéing, and raw applications, Spanish Roja garlic delivers a spicy, true garlic taste that mellows and sweetens when cooked, making it a favorite among chefs and home gardeners alike.
Storage Life: 4-6 months
Cloves per Bulb: Approx. 4-6 cloves
I bought nine different types of garlic....and a triple order of the Spanish Roja. All the other garlic sprouted just fine, but NONE of the Spanish Roja sprouted. When I wrote to customer service I was told that it was too early to plant. I always plant my garlic in the Fall. They said, "If in the spring you see those Spanish roja have no growth, that's when you'll know they're not viable. Please let me know if that becomes the case! We'll get you a refund." So I will update my review in the Spring!
So this is a follow up to my first post that the garlic did not come up. Some of the Spanish Roja has finally came up. it took it about 6 to 8 weeks longer than any of my other garlic. Just wanted to up date the original post.
Tis is the first time ordering garlic from MIG that I have been disappointed. I ordered 10 cloves of different soft and hard neck garlic and every clove came up except the Spanish Roja not one came up.
The head of garlic was beautiful and healthy!

As described. Good germination.
We have nice fertile soil in our greenhouse and able to control those pesty little flea beetles that can decimate eggplants foliage. I've been keeping them under control with DE and my eggplants are massive in size, about 3-4 feet tall with 1 foot lower leaves.
The eggplants fruit are developing nicely, nearly doubling in size daily. There are plenty of blossoms too. We're expecting that we won't need to grow more for a few years, we're planning on freeze drying most if them.
I purchased several packs of seeds from MiGardener during the semi annual sale, and they did not disappoint! Nearly 100 percent germination rate on all seeds I've planted. The only thing I haven't been able to germinate is lemon grass, which I'm learning may 1 take a very long time to germinate in general and 2 need bottom heat to help them sprout. Even without being on sale 2 bucks a seed pack for the amount they give (very generous compared to other companies, I might add) is a crazy good deal. If you have been on the fence, I encourage you to give MiGardener seeds a try! Thank you Luke and team, and Happy Gardening to all!
I'm not a seasoned gardener, so I don't necessarily know what's normal or not, but out of all the seeds I planted (got about a dozen different herbs and greens from MIgardener), the fenugreek was the quickest to sprout, had the highest germination rate, and the largest sprouting leaves. I'm pretty excited to watch them grow into beautiful plants.
Gardening for over 40 years. The Trifecta very impressed has all the elements I want in a fertilizer. Next year I will buy the largest amount.
