The Oriental Yard Long pole bean, also known as the asparagus bean or Chinese long bean, is a unique and highly productive variety known for its extraordinary length. These slender, tender pods can grow up to 18-36 inches long, maturing in about 60-80 days. The beans are crisp and flavorful, making them ideal for stir-fries, salads, and pickling. This vigorous climber thrives in warm climates, requiring support such as trellises or poles. Regular harvesting encourages continuous production.

Awesome

I had great luck with these over the summer. They are nice long beans that grow three to a stem. Keep an eye on them they grow pretty fast once they begin.

Good flavor

I forgot that I was going to try these and planted them as a second crop of beans this summer. So far, I am impressed with the size of the beans and crunchy sweetness. Will definitely grow more next year!

These are very interesting!

The majority of the beans have sprouted. I have grown this variety bean for three years now mainly to eat fresh. They truly can grow to be a yard long and produce two long beans together!! They need a support and can get stringy as they get mature, so you just have to watch and pick them every 2-3 days. Since they are an heirloom variety, you can save seed each year. They are good for fresh and frozen. They aren't big producers so I don't get enough to can, but they are good for canning, too.

Good seeds, all came out. I planted late but still harvested a bundle of beans.
