Sorghum has been highly regarded as one of the most important grains for its multiple purposes. It can be used to make syrup, animal feed, flour, gathered together and used for broom-making material, and even used as primitive painting brushes. Sorghum can also be popped like popcorn which is a unique twist on a popular treat. Much higher in fiber, protein, minerals, and vitamins than corn. Plants grow just like corn until the very end when they reach the tassel stage they produce large clusters of seeds that start out green and as they ripen then become shades of brown, red, rust, orange, yellow, and golden orange. Beautiful for autumn decorations.
Ive grown these in the past, good flavor and fun to chew on
I grew a pack of Mixed Colors Sorghum Broomcorn, and I was thrilled to see some plants reaching an impressive 10-12 feet tall! They not only added height and interest to my garden, but I also noticed that hummingbirds were attracted to them, creating a lively atmosphere.
I've already ordered more and plan to grow even more of these unique plants. However, my first packages each contained less than 40 seeds, and I can’t comment on the germination rate since some moles have been moving them around along with the sunflowers.
Overall, it's been a fun and rewarding experience having something so distinctive growing in my garden!
They came in quick and my order was complete and great condition
I ordered some seeds in 22 and planted some seeds in 23. I was very pleased on their performance. I used some of the seeds to grow in 24 . I have collected about a dozen for this year's harvest. I ordered another pack as a back up.
Deer did not EAT my beautiful broomcorn, but they did trample some of them to the ground getting to the tomato plants in the container behind the broomcorn. And I didn't even get any photos first! Great germination rates, grew fantastically with almost no care at all...until the great deer stomp of 2023.
