Ocimum basilicum. Dark Opal basil is a stunning, ornamental herb known for its deep purple, almost black leaves and fragrant aroma. This variety not only adds a splash of color to gardens but also provides a unique flavor, combining traditional basil sweetness with a hint of spice. Ideal for both culinary and decorative use, Dark Opal basil can be used in salads, pesto, and as a garnish.
This basil variety has been one of my favourite things I've ever grown -- so simple, but boy is the colour, smell, and taste worth it. Super gorgeous, would definitely recommend!
This is a fun one to grow, tastes just as good as most genovese basil types, but has the added bonus of the pretty purple, and is nice in salads and bruschetta. It does fade when cooked.
This would be the first time growing this variety. Im sure it will be great like all the other MIGardner seeds I have gotten!
These are definitely 'To Basil'. It's the first purple variety I've managed to grow easily.
I grew them in pots, I grew them in the ground. I brought some cuttings inside over this winter, and they're doing splendidly on a windowsill. Very decorative and taste great.
Bought multiple times and it always does so well!

As described. Good germination.
We have nice fertile soil in our greenhouse and able to control those pesty little flea beetles that can decimate eggplants foliage. I've been keeping them under control with DE and my eggplants are massive in size, about 3-4 feet tall with 1 foot lower leaves.
The eggplants fruit are developing nicely, nearly doubling in size daily. There are plenty of blossoms too. We're expecting that we won't need to grow more for a few years, we're planning on freeze drying most if them.
I purchased several packs of seeds from MiGardener during the semi annual sale, and they did not disappoint! Nearly 100 percent germination rate on all seeds I've planted. The only thing I haven't been able to germinate is lemon grass, which I'm learning may 1 take a very long time to germinate in general and 2 need bottom heat to help them sprout. Even without being on sale 2 bucks a seed pack for the amount they give (very generous compared to other companies, I might add) is a crazy good deal. If you have been on the fence, I encourage you to give MiGardener seeds a try! Thank you Luke and team, and Happy Gardening to all!
I'm not a seasoned gardener, so I don't necessarily know what's normal or not, but out of all the seeds I planted (got about a dozen different herbs and greens from MIgardener), the fenugreek was the quickest to sprout, had the highest germination rate, and the largest sprouting leaves. I'm pretty excited to watch them grow into beautiful plants.
Gardening for over 40 years. The Trifecta very impressed has all the elements I want in a fertilizer. Next year I will buy the largest amount.
