Indeterminate - Plants produce decent amounts of tomatoes with a pink/red hue when fully ripe, weighing around 8-10 ounces, sometimes close to a pound. The fruit is a bit of beefsteak with meatiness but also the juiciness of a slicer. Seeds are medium size but few.

If you haven’t heard of this tomato, don’t feel bad. Most haven’t for over 45 years. It was extinct until we sprouted seeds that came from 85-year-old packets.

Two germinated, and 1 survived; we produced cuttings, saved seeds, and continued the process. It isn’t about the money as much as the story behind this variety, the journey it took to get here, and the mission to preserve genetic diversity in seeds!

You all will get to try it for the first time before anyone else and be a part of the history of bringing this back to the home garden where it was intended to be 85 years ago!

It’s a Survivor!

I’ve been following this story since the start, and from watching my little guys, I can tell that this variety is just a beast! Two years in a row we’ve had trouble growing out our seedlings, and twice in a row, this variety has outcompeted all of our other varieties! (Including several hybrids!!)

Delicious!

Finally harvested some of first Giant Crimson Tomatoes last week. The taste of them took me back to my childhood and the tomatoes that my grandmother used to grow. Juicy and very meaty tomatoes that had an amazing taste. 5/5.

This tomato surprised me. We are having a crazy summer here in VA zone 7b, but these tomatoes thrived! No leaf curl, no flower drops, some blight on lower leaves but they didn’t balk at the serious pruning. Some fruit did crack, but considering the weeks of upper 90’s drought followed days of back to back deluge it’s not that bad. And of course buying from MIgardener is always a pleasure. Fast shipping, great communication and 100% germination.

Great all around!

All seeds germinated and plants grew nicely in central Texas, just waiting for harvests.

Surprise favorite this year!

I got these seeds for the novelty but ended up loving these tomatoes. Juicy and meaty, they have been a star on our summer BLT’s. They have resisted splitting more than some of my other varieties during our crazy weather. Will definitely grow these again next year!
