This stunning Okra variety produces short but plump pods that have a striking burgundy tip and green pod. The flavor is crisp and extremely tender when blanched and boiled. Great fried! It grows to be about 6' tall.
I was sharing some of these seeds, so I counted them, expecting about 50, maybe 55. But noooooo, this packet was way off. There were 65 seed in there!!!
Way to go MIgardener, promising what you can, then still going above and beyond
Seeds all germinated fine. The plants look pretty but the okra isn't great for eating (or harvesting process) unfortunately. I won’t grow these Hill Country Red Okra again. Zone 9B.
I live in zone 6b and planted the seeds pretty late. I wasn’t expecting much and was mostly growing it for the flowers. The plant germinated quickly and not only did it thrive, it even fruited! It’s now October and we have had a handful of frosts and the deer have helped themselves to the leaves so imagine my surprise when I saw the plant trying to bloom another flower!
All of my okra got shaded out this year and I didn't get one single pod in any of my backyard raised beds. Out of desperation I planted these seeds in the only space I had left which was the front yard flower planter. I couldn't believe these produced in mostly shade and in such a shallow planter. Every seed planted germinated. I know they will do amazing next year when I plant them in the right conditions.
Seedlings sprouted within 4 days of sowing them!!
Grew these last year, so I bought more seeds! they were awesome, very prolific and tasted great!!
I started them early....did waterjug winter seed starts .. they did very well....grew up to be nice sturdy plants, bearing lots of fruit! Thank You!!
Wonderful seed
Planting this new color in the spring. Love the other colors I have from you.
We planted several of your beans and found the pinto bean being our favorite and most used, not that we don't also like the other beans. I had never grown beans before and had no idea of how easy and low maintenance they require. We plan to triple the amount at our next planting.
