Hardneck
1 full head
Chesnok Red-Purple Stripe is a hardneck variety that was originally cultivated in the Republic of Georgia and brought over to the United States after 1985. These bulbs produce 4-6 medium cloves with a paper coating showing beautiful red stripes. The rich sweet flavor holds its own through the cooking process and is sure not to overpower your dish. Chesnok Red is grown well in most climates, from the southern to the northern parts of the United States. This heirloom variety is known to store longer than many hardneck varieties, keeping its vitality into the next spring!
Type: Purple Stripe
Cloves per Bulb: Approximately 4-6 cloves
Flavor Profile: sweet, garlic flavor without heat
Storage Life: 5-7 months
They were big bulbs, and taste was good, but many cloves have some faint small brown spots.
Growing Chesnok Red garlic was a lot of fun for a first time garlic grower. The garlic was covered with straw over the winter (Michigan, zone 6a) and weeded a few times in the spring and summer but that was about it. I was worried that the bulbs would be small since the necks were so small in the spring/summer, but after harvesting the scapes on the plant the garlic grew a good amount bigger. Just a solid variety all around to grow.
Loved the garlic grew great this year
This is a new variety to me and I can't wait. The bulbs were big and beautiful, planted them today.
Quality is good every time!

I think I bought 5 packets which was good for covering 2/6ft beds
Everything grew quickly, lots of nitrogen fixers and it's all still thick & lush. I will chop & mulch into the soil after all this rain probably around December for the winter/spring garden season here in FL
Producing wonderfully :)
This doesn't fail to impress. Great variety that successfully blooms throughout the season!
Great seed quality!
I grew this pepper plant in a 20 gallon pot and it did very well. It produced dozens of small peppers that were spicy—hotter than your standard jalapeno. I put about 3 of these in my salsa to spice it up along with 5-7 whole jalapeños (I roast them which takes out a portion of the yea). This little plant produced so many peppers that I froze a gallon bag of them to use in recipes throughout the year.
