First Frost: Mid to late October
Start your fall crops in early to late August, and keep sowing every couple of weeks for a steady harvest. These zones have time for roots, greens, and some slow-growers like Swiss chard.
Start sowing:
Swiss chard, beets (Formanova), salad burnet, kale: Late July through mid-August
Lettuce, spinach, arugula, cilantro: Early to late August
Carrots, bok choy: By mid-August
Quick tip: Add a 1–2" layer of compost before sowing to refresh summer beds.
Fall crops can be sown through mid to late September

First time ever growing chia . 2 out of the 3 came up. Still little seedlings so far so good.
I love these seed trays! Super sturdy!
Excellent choices of varieties, all of which grow great in my area. I can't wait to winter sow them in a month or two. From past experience I have complete confidence that they will germinate and produce. Thanks, MIGardener!
Fun way to get new interesting varieties in the garden, I love the grab bags! My sister and I have purchased these for the last few years and we make a big deal about the big reveal. We video-call each delivery (we both purchase more than one set) and play some sort of game or announcement of each packet . It’s the highlight of fall and helps us get over the end of gardening season blues!
The taste of this tomato is super sweet. I made pico de gallo and it was a treat. I got a one pound tomato in my grow bag.
