Sesame is a grain that grows on a large 3′ tall plant. Plants will produce flowers that are tube-like and very interesting to see. Amazing in Asian cuisine, toasted, salads, bagels, bread, and other baked goods. The nutty flavor of this grain will bring warmth to any dish.
All seeds from MIGardner are terrific! The sesame seeds grow wonderfully! I purchased this packet to give as a Christmas gift. I save my seeds from the plants I grew when I first planted them from a previous seed packet. Luke from MIGardner teaches you how to save the seeds so you can keep on growing strong and healthy plants.
Black Sesame
Good price on the seeds. Well-packaged. Thanks!
Been following MIgardener for a long time, First time ordering.
Very pleased with the packaging and quick shipping!
I put about 5 seeds on a damp paper towel and inside a small, clear container with a clear lid on top. There is a video on this on MI Gardener YouTube. Anyway, it didn't take more than 3 to 4 days before a couple of them had sprouted and started to grow little baby roots. I've moved them to prepared soil and we shall see how it goes. But as far as the seed; they come in a nice, detailed package and seem to be easy to sprout. At least the way I did it.

Great fertilizer. Used for the first time last year for my fall bulbs and they were stunning and strong come spring. Planting another 250 bulbs this fall so came back for more bulb fertilizer. I also use the Trifecta. Can’t go wrong with any of Luke’s amendments.
Great germination and very prolific.
I grew this in a straw bale garden in 2025 and really enjoyed it. It grew amazingly well and was beautiful, so I purchased more for 2026. Michigan zone 6b.
I have grown these for the last few years and they are hands down my favorite. I like romas and firm tomatoes. These remind me of mini romas. These are less prone to splitting, super easy to harvest and has a super great flavor and very meaty. YUM!
The cloves are large, full and heavy. Of the two cloves I kept (shared 2 with my daughter), 12 were large enough to plant, 1 will be consumed.
