The Sweet Spanish onion had the best quality and size of the 4 sweet onions I planted last year. So, I am going with some more this year.

These have kept excellent germination over other varieties I’ve grown. I don’t always use a whole packet in one year and if you don’t either, this may be a good variety for you. My packet was packed for 2021. In 2024, germination was still 80%, and I just did another test from that packet for the 2025 season and got above 70% germinating. 5 years of good germination and maybe still going is surprising for onions. I don’t do anything special for storing seeds — room temp in their packets. The onions I harvested in August are storing well into January now in a drawer at room temp. Great seeds and onions!
