This is heirloom lettuce from the Siberian region of Russia and is very cold hardy. Plants produce oakleaf-style leaves that are green with a bronze tint. This lettuce will produce late into winter and will tolerate heat more than most varieties due to its low profile to the soil. Oakleaf-shaped leaves will not overheat in the sun. Rich in vitamins E, K, A, C, and Potassium, fiber, as well as iron.
I love growing lettuce and this didn’t disappoint. Grew great in a container. Sturdy heads that I used mostly for salads.
This lettuce is hardy and is less susceptible to bolting in warm weather and is cold tolerant. I am growing it in container grow bags from MI Gardener and will test it out to see how long it handles the Minnesota cold temps. So far I am impressed with all the products I have purchased and expect this Bronze Mignonette will exceed my expectations!
While it is now the end of June, I can tell you that I planted this lettuce before memorial day and just before I harvested last week received a comment from my neighbor that said these rose of lettuce look like they should be in a seed catalog
I still have a couple inground a week before the Fourth of July. I harvested the most of them just as they started bolting, but the initial bolting processes did not affect better or Crispness. In fact, I ate a salad made from this lettuce today and found it quite satisfying. The lettuce I used had been in the fridge for a week which I count as a win. I will definitely plant this. Let us again.
Haven’t planted seeds yet, however, delivery was super fast. Great info on the packets too!
Good lettuce variety. Love all migardener seeds
I gave one to my partner last summer... he said, "WHY DOES THIS TASTE LIKE CHAMPAGNE??"
This variety will be in my garden until I can no longer garden!
I just planted them and they look beautiful so far
Excellent Germination!
One of my favorite things to grow is spinach, I grow mostly in containers so I like to try and get as much as possible out of my small garden. This variety definitely does that. I get massive leaves and fill up a gallon sized ziplock bag relatively quickly every week when the harvest begins.
Germination went very well, popped up within a few days. Growing well!
