Long Day- Originating in Scotland, Ailsa Craig Onions have yellow/brown skin. They are known for their stunning flavor and size. These giant sweet onions are known to grow 1-2 pounds a piece, sometimes up to 5lbs! Recommended for fresh eating as these don't have the longest shelf life.

Onions to Keep the Bugs Away.

My onion seeds arrived timely and the price was great. I have planted the seeds today and I am excited to get them started. I have read they can weigh from 1 to 5 lbs. They are long day onions so they will need lots of sunlight hours to grow. I like to plant onions and marigolds in my vegetable beds to keep the pests away.

Uhm, they’re onions?

Well, I can confirm that I planted the seeds and germination has happened. The red onions I bought here last year were amazing at harvest time but I have to wait for harvest to confirm that these are as good as. Unfortunately, the quantity of seeds wasn’t what I was expecting, but that’s on me. You see, the other onion seed packs have hundreds of seeds and are clearly labeled as to the seed weight. This package is also clearly labeled likewise, but I failed to notice when I was ordering. Does the quantity of seeds deter me from recommending them? No, not at all. I’m going to hazard a guess that they’re expensive seeds because of the variety and loading up the package for the same price as the other ones is not a feasible option. The fact that I have no idea what this variety will be like at harvest time is what keeps me from putting a stamp of approval on them.
Honestly, I wouldn’t even be reviewing the product right now other than the fact there was an email asking me to do so. It’s not really an accurate review of what will be…

I have trouble growing large onions. So far these onions have grown the largest for me.
