Indeterminate - This West Virginia heirloom was made famous by a humble farmer, Derrell Kellog, who preserved the variety in Redford, Michigan. Its bright orange fruit bursts with sweetness and can grow up to 2 lbs. A favorite amongst many seasoned gardeners. Delicious sliced, juiced, canned, or cut fresh for salads.

Delicious, productive, large, low acidic, more blight resistant

I've grown Kelloggs Breakfast 2 years in a row now and will continue this year again. I can a lot of spaghetti sauce, and my secret is to use a variety of tomatoes (see picture of mix of Opalka and Kelloggs Breakfast). I get beautiful color from using Opalka for my paste variety, and Kelloggs Breakfast as a yellow, flavorful addition. Kelloggs grew very well for me (mid-Michigan, zone 6b) with less problem with blight than other varieties I've tried. While the tomatoes get very large, I also found they are less prone to cracking and splitting than other large, beefsteak types. Their productivity and abundance makes them worth growing over other types. These tend to be more uniform and smooth than other large tomatoes. That makes them perfect for a mayo/tomato sandwich! These do produce a lot of seeds (which is not a problem for me). That's a plus if you want to share your abundance of good things with friends and neighbors! :) I fell in love with Kelloggs Breakfast and am not looking back.
