This Canadian heirloom is the close cousin to the butternut squash, with a slimmer neck and unique shape. This variety is nearly extinct and is rich with a creamy texture and a sweet, nutty flavor. Grows from 2-4lbs a piece. A favorite for roasting, mashing, or making into soups and pies. Stores well.

      This was the best growing winter squash in my garden this past year- it withstood bout after bout of squash bugs. Then a pestilence of vine borers and 2 plants produced about 20 squash. We cured them on our sunporch and, so far, they have lasted 2 months in our root cellar. I cooked the largest the other day (it was literally the length of my entire arm) – baked part of it and air fried the other part. Absolute perfection. Nutty but sweet, quite meaty with enough seeds for saving but not enough it felt ridiculous. Will grow again.

      Great germination! I planted 4 seeds and all 4 grew. These squash were great roasted in the oven with carrots and Brussel sprouts.
