This variety prefers a light and sandy growing area with plenty of space for large melons to form. Fruits have been known to grow up to 50 lbs a piece! Water this variety generously and consistently for about 10 days until the fruits are about the size of a tennis ball to get them started for success.

      Buyer beware! They do not sell blacktail mountain! You will be sent black diamond watermelon, a very large (and tasty) variety. Blacktail mountain are small melons. Both are delicious. Even though I didn’t receive blacktail mountain, I was happy with the black diamond variety.

      Good small sized watermelons. Quite a few seeds but it could be because I had a lot of bees in my garden this season. Produced about 4 per vine, I direct sowed the seed late in the season ~Mid June. Will likely produce more if started early.

      Not sure what the guy is talking about when he says “black tail mountain watermelon” it clearly states these are black diamond watermelon seeds. No issues with germination. Watermelon doesn’t do good transplanting, so if you can direct sow. They do so much better. Vines are strong and I’m growing up a 8ft homemade trellis. So far so good. Can’t wait to have melon for desert
