This low maintenance variety won’t require special attention in order to grow well. Slightly spicier than other red onions. Color is a deep reddish purple, the size of bulbs can be expected to be around 3-4″ when fully matured. Harvest early for a more intense flavor. Best variety for eating raw in salads and sandwiches, or lightly sauteed in stir-frys. Short-day variety.

      I tried growing onions from seed last year and had a terrible time. I watched Luke’s video on starting onions and followed his steps with the red burgundy onion seeds and now I have to figure out where I’m going to transplant 100 onions because they ALL came up. What an awesome dilemma to have. I think the rest is up to me now to keep these lovelies alive and prosperous.
