  1. Joe

This variety of beans is truly remarkable changing color from purple to green right before your eyes.

  2. Derek Coots

I grew a few of these plants last year and was very pleased with them. Every seed germinated and its a fun variety to grow. I will be planting all I have remaining this year for sure.

  3. Ohio Gardener

Very happy with these beans. Easy to pick since the beans are very visible. Also the bugs seem to leave them alone. Perhaps the purple color confuses them? The color changes to green when cooked. They taste just like green beans ☺.

  4. fwmilmo

Very prolific variety. All of the seeds germinated and gave me crops during the late summer/early fall. I highly recommend them! They grew well in containers.

  5. Pawat Seritrakul

Healthy productive yet small and bushy plant. I started them late but still had a good harvest.

  6. Darren Lind

My first experience with purple beans and they were super hardy and prolific! I snuck a few in my landscaping for added color and they were beautiful. Great conversation starter with giving them away! I am definitely ordering several more packages as they were delicious

  7. Darren Lind

Favorite bean! They were truly a beautiful addition!

  8. Darren Lind

One of my favorite seeds from MI gardener! I love these beautiful beans and I am growing a pot in my house as well as many outside. I will be saving seed from these!!! very fun to have the pretty purple color even though they turn green when cooked

  9. globalswat

We loved these, as our 1 yr old and 3 year old picked them and loved how they changed colors when cooked. They taste great without strings. I like mixing them with other colors too (yellow & green) and they look pretty when harvesting.

  10. Joseph

This was the first not green string bean I have ever grown. Very prolific, and interesting how it changes color from purple to green right before your eyes.

100% Germination rate. Great raw or cooked!

  12. gooseman_duckman

Planted these and painted pony. These out produced 10 to 1. Gonna save some seed and plant in every garden from now on.

  13. David Profitt

I nice bean with a striking dark color. In a blind taste test, though, I can’t distinguish them from many other bush beans. They are good and completely stringless. They turn a dark green when cooked.

  14. sys881218

Great germination rate, and such a prolific plant. Towards the end of the season it was hard to keep up with the harvesting, but beans were easy to spot and harvest due to their color. For anyone curious about the flavor, these taste just like any other green beans in my opinion.

  15. bladeddragon

An absolutely wonderful product. Plant bushed out to about 2′ x 2′ but it produced beans for months. Averaging about 4 cups every other day. Excellent taste but I personally would not freezing as they take on a tough nature. Grown in 12 inches of garden gold compost laid in place over leaf litter and cardboard the prior fall.

Picked these up to add color to the garden to make my niece more excited to run around in the “Jungle” as she calls it. She has consistently run to these every day to see if more are ready to pick! Definitely should pick these up if you love to see smiles.

100% germination and beautiful. No strings. Great tasting bean. I love having a color variety! Currently growing these, Landreth, Cherokee Wax, and Red Swan.

These beans are a definite win for us! They were surprisingly prolific, seemed to be a bit earlier harvest (planted 5 varieties of beans and they were one of the first to produce), and the great part is their visibility! Not all pods were perfect burgundy-purple but they were so much easier to see and pick! Would be great for someone who has eyesight problems. The stems are darker of course but they are beautiful plants and still easier to see the beans than typical green beans.

Such a pretty plant with purple flowers. The beans too were beautiful and quite tasty. I had to compete for them because the neighborhood deer found them and liked them too. But with the help if a motion detector sprinkler, I got more than they did.

I have grown the Royal Burgundy bean for years and years. It is a true standby for me. Love the purple color.

  21. lori.m.greco

I LOVE these beans! Every seeds germinated. I amended the soil with a very small amount of bone meal before planting (1/2 c. for every 10ft row) and these seemed to grow and produce very prolifically. My kids loved these as well and had such a fun time gathering all of them. I highly recommend this variety! The taste is wonderful as well- my favorite “green” bean!

  22. steveosullivan77

Great germination, ok production and less flavor than red swan and dragon tongue beans. There are better options

  23. mallerding15

Very good and fast germination rate. Plants are looking super healthy so far. Can’t wait to get the beans. Thanks Luke!

  24. simplyblogs

Good germination and strong growing plants, with nice harvest.

  25. my_mnm

I only planted 2 seeds because that’s what I had room for but both seeds germinated. I should’ve grown more. My dogs loved these so much that they stole the beans off of the plant which left me with very little to harvest. Next year I’ll be sure to plant more so that we can also enjoy them as much as our pups.

  26. christinanewhart

grew these the first time this year and we loved them , didnt even get a chance to really cook them, my 7 year old son ‘Luke” 🙂 were too busy eating them right out of the garden, they are a beautiful purple color with green on the inside, and they are SWEET God Bless everyone and their upcoming gardens in 2021!!!!!

  27. lostinthewoods9575

These are delicious and produce well. They preserve well also. The plants themselves are pretty with purple blossoms. It’s fun watching them change color while cooking.

  28. schallapril

These were so fun and easy to grow! I chose them for a little added color in the garden and they did not disappoint. I loved how easy they were to see when picking. They made cooking with little ones fun as well, watching them turn from deep purple to green as they cooked. Will be planting yearly from now on!

  29. micheleahland

While every seed germinated, these didn’t produce as well as some of the other bean varieties I grew. The deep purple color is vibrant and very pretty, but it’s a bit disappointing when they turn green when cook and are indistinguishable from green varieties. I may grow these again, but they will get less garden space than a more prolific variety.

  30. evanrahaman

    I love these beans

  31. scenestra

Good germination, but hated my containers, probably to small so never got much of a crop

  32. fenton_nancy-lynne

I love the colour of these, and the flowers are beautiful as well. They are not as productive as many varieties but add great colour when eaten fresh.

  33. tminnard

Pacific northwest Olympia Washington. Kids loved these. They didn’t produce a lot for me but our weather was cold this year, lots of cold nights and slugs.

  34. loyalad

Pretty decent producer for a bush variety and the beans are a wonderful purple color!

  35. asia.gregg

Ohhhh yes. These beans are high germination, high yield, and high flavor. I love the color, both of the pods and the plants themselves. Definitely growing these again and again.

  36. lamoureux.6697

Grow every year. They are my most prolific bush beans and I love the colour.

  37. tinahkauffman

These grow the most beautiful beans! Look just like the picture, germinated very easy, and taste great! I will grow these again!

  38. lamoureux.6697

Such a favourite always in my garden

  39. emilybarker0815

These bush beans are so cool! I enjoyed them. Germination about 65%.

  40. carla.pigman

Excellent germination, healthy plants, and great flavor, but not as productive as I had hoped or as compared to other varieties. These are fun to grow to have some color variety, nothing more.

  41. yannaci81

These were very pretty when growing and produced very well.

  42. happytimesahead23

    Vibrant colour and great taste

  43. corinnemnilsen

I love these beans! Not the biggest producer compared to some others, but the color is so deep and the flavor is good either cooked or raw
