A super favorite for us, delicious when sauteed with kale, sunflower seeds, onion, and garlic. Also great in salads. Southern collards have long been a favorite for dishes in the south, but in recent years this nutrient dense green has made its way into almost every grocery store! It is easy to grow, very cold tolerant as well as very heat tolerant.

We live in Charleston, SC, first time growing this and oh my word did it grow amazing! Huge leaves and we had so much we had to give a lot away! They were delicious also, we made traditional collard greens, and sausage and collard stew! yum! Grew in the fall and lasted until May, would have been longer, but caterpillars got ahold of it over a few days of rain, so I gave it all to our chickens and they enjoyed it as well!

Started these indoor late March, and planted them outside 3 weeks later, just 3 plants and we have had more than we can handle already. Given bags of leaves away to coworkers and friends, great tasting leaves and great dark color.

Delicious! Grow great in DFW Texas in the fall and winter so far. We will continue to grow these throughout the year to see just how heat tolerant they are in hopes we can enjoy these all year. Great germination rate and will purchase again. Direct sow in the ground in fall and some in containers in the winter, some started indoors and transplanted. Our absolute favorite way to eat these is to saute them, turnip greens and chard in butter, minced garlic, pinch of salt and pepper, and a squeeze of lemon. They are done in 5 mins. A truly delicious comforting dish.

I love collards and they have even been growing in my zone 4a really well in the summer. I have 2 planted hydroponically using a kratky type setup with decent results but are lacking the conditions to really take off but they are doing great in my garden, healthy leaves and stalks and have been avoiding pest damage
