How To Make The Ultimate Organic DIY Potting Mix

The ultimate potting mix is great for growing in containers, transplanting seedlings, and even starting seedlings. Here is the recipe I use:

  • - 1 part peat moss OR coco coir
  • - 1 part worm castings
  • - 1 part perlite
  • - 2 tablespoons humic acid(per gallon of mix)
  • - 1 cup glacial rock dust (per gallon per gallon of mix)

The worm castings add a superior aspect to the mix. The trillions of microbes available in 1 gallon of worm castings will get your soil flora and fauna to be rich and alive. The humic acid and rock dust will feed the soil microbes, and allow them to populate your mix. This will also allow plants to aquire trace minerals from the beginning and give them that jump start on life that any gardener would want.

The richest source of humic acid is found in a product called leonardite. I just purchased a 50 lb bag and plan to start using it immediately.
